building the foundation for an intentful practice?
The word FOUNDATION has so many meanings. I always tell therapy students that the statement "practice makes perfect" is not true. If you do not change the foundation on which the skill is built you cannot make change. This is applied in many different ways through our educational model and means different things to different audiences.
For Adaptive Riding Instructors it might mean an understanding of disabilities so that they can have knowledge of the population they are teaching in order to "adapt their teaching methodologies to meet the learning needs/styles of their riders".
For Therapists it might mean learning the foundational terminology, theories, movement responses, and clinical decision making to "purposely manipulate equine movement".
For the Horses it might mean learning the movements, transitions, and suppleness to provide the necessary quality of movement to carry out the prescribed movement plan for a therapy session or riding lesson.
